Yuryuzan, Chelyabinsk Oblast
Jurjusan (Russian Юрюзань ) is a city in Chelyabinsk Oblast (Russia) with 12,571 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located on the western flank of the Southern Urals about 300 km west of the Oblasthauptstadt Chelyabinsk at the same Jurjusan, a left tributary of the Ufa river system in the Kama.
Jurjusan is part of Rajon Katav - Iwanowsk. Only a few kilometers south of the town is the larger " closed city " Trjochgorny.
The city lies a few kilometers from the southern section of the Trans-Siberian Railway Moscow - Samara Chelyabinsk - Omsk, with which they have a branch line to the station Wjasowaja ( 1818 line kilometers from Moscow) is connected, and the M5 highway Moscow - Chelyabinsk.
History
Jurjusan arose in 1758 in connection with the establishment of ironworks Jurjusan - Ivanovsky Zavod. From the end of the 19th century were called the factory and place only Jurjusanski Zavod. The plant was closed in 1908, the site received on June 18, 1943 city law. Dar name is derived from the altturkischen / Bashkir words for faster or large river.
