Kermanshah Province

Kermanshah (Persian کرمانشاه / k ʲ ː ermɔ nʃɔ ː h /, Kurdish Kirmaşan ) is one of the 31 provinces in Iran. Capital is the city of Kermanshah.

Geography

The province is located in the west of Iran, on the border with Iraq. In Kermanshah live mainly Kurds, but also a number of lures. Among the Kurdish Sorani languages ​​, Südkurdisch and Gorani are common. The most important Kurdish tribe of the province are the Kalhor.

The inscription of Behistun is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the region. The inscription is located at an altitude of 1300 m in the mountains.
