Kirkcudbrightshire

Kirkcudbrightshire is one of the traditional counties of Scotland, located in the south of Scotland, on the border with England. Administrative headquarters and the eponymous town, the city was Kirkcudbright. The county is also called Stewartry of Kirkcudbright.

As the administrative county was Kirkcudbrightshire 1890-1975 and then formed the Stewartry District of Dumfries and Galloway region. The Dumfries and Galloway region was transformed into a unitary authority in 1996. Kirkcudbrightshire is still one of the Lieutenancy Areas of Scotland.
