Kuusalu Parish

Kuusalu ( dt: Kusal ) is a rural municipality in Harju County Estonia ( Harju maakond ) with an area of 708 km ². It has 6371 inhabitants (as of 1 July 2010). Kuusalu lies about 39 km from Tallinn, Harju County in north-east. By joining the community Loksa ( Loksa vald ) to the municipality Kuusalu on 20 October 2005 it has become the largest area of the district municipality.

Attractions

Worth the monk storm of Kiiu is ( German: Kida or castle kyda ) from the 16th century. The four-storey tower is the oldest preserved fortress of Estonia. It is now used as a cafe. Kiiu is also known for his eggnog.
