Lazy Mountain is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Matanuska- Susitna Borough in Alaska in the United States.

Geography

The area lies at the foot of the mountain of the same name in Lazy Mountain near the town of Palmer. It is located east of the Matanuska River and is accessible via the Old Glenn Highway.

History

The area was settled around 1915, when the Alaska Railroad managed to work opportunities. A children's home ( Lazy Mountain Children's Home ) was from 1947 until the early 1960s in operation. For a time there was a ski lift in a recreation area around the mountain, but he has since been dismantled.

Economy

The residents work in the catchment area of ​​the cities Palmer and Wasilla or Anchorage. Vegetables, grains, hay and potatoes are grown. In the area there are some U -Pick farms. There are no retail stores.
