Libera (music)

Libera is a boys' choir from Norbury, south London. Libera is a charity, a British non-profit association and operates without profit intention.

The members of Libera come mainly from the choir of St. Philip 's Boys Choir of the Parish of the Anglican St. Philip 's Church in the Diocese of Southwark and were known under the name Angel Voices. Its present name is that of her recognition song Libera (Latin: Liberare, free ' ) are identical, the text of the Libera me (!, Save me '), a part of the usual in Roman Catholic but also in the Anglican rite exchange singing the Requiem refers. Under this name they appear since the appearance of the eponymous album from 1999. The reason for the name change was the change in musical style, and the effort to open up their music to a wider audience.

Liberation consists of about 40 boys aged 7-17 years, with more and some of the boys are in vocal training and not participating in the concerts.

Libera produced in recent years, many musical contributions to the soundtracks of hit films such as Romeo and Juliet and Hannibal.

The run of choral conductor Robert Prizeman boys' choir has been able to cross the mystical sound of sacred music with modernity. The result is a mix of pop and classical music.

Albums

The Anglican Church of St. Philip 's Church has a long choral tradition. The first non-traditional recording was made in 1984 when the boys of the St. Philip's Boys Choir participated as backing vocals of the singer Sal Solo in his title " San Damiano ". Published in 1987, the choir, the single " Sing Forever" and 1988 single " Adoramus ". When his first full length album of the Choir Sing For Ever released under the name of St. Philip 's Choir in 1988. The title song of the album was chosen by the BBC as an anthem for the donation consignment Children in Need.

The second album, New Day, released in 1990 and published by BMG, was the first album where the name Angel Voices was used. In the 90s, the names were " St. Philip 's Boy Choir " and" Angel Voices "is used equally for the choir. The third album Angel Voices published in 1992 by DINO and again in 1993 at MCI. Angel Voices 2 was released in 1996 and Angel Voices 3 followed in 1997, both published by MCI and published under the name of " St. Philip 's Boy Choir ".

Robert Prizeman released a single in 1995 and a CD entitled "Liberation ". The CD contained seven remixes of his original song " Libera ". The first four versions was taken by Libera with Daren Geraghty as soloists who sang last three by other artists. In the same year the choir the song was the first time under the name Libera Choir in front of the TV program "Sunday Live". 1999 then appeared another album entitled Liberation, published by Warner Classics. Since that time, the choir performs at all public appearances solely under the name of "Liberation " on. In 2001, Warner Classics released the next album Luminosa and two years later, a 2 CD set with Libera and Luminosa albums under the title Complete Libera.

Since 2004, Libera is in a fixed contract with EMI. The first moved from EMI album was Free in 2004, 2005 appeared Visions. Libera 's 2006 album Angel Voices, was nominated in the category " Album of the Year " for the " Classical Brit Awards". New Dawn was released in March 2008. Liberation published in December 2008, the first double album Eternal ( The best of Libera) with 26 tracks from previous albums and six new songs. And the album Peace in 2010 came on the market.

The latest album "The Christmas Album" is in the autumn of 2011, it is the first own Christmas album, so far the choir Aled Jones had supported at two Christmas collections, one of which appeared on DVD.

TV appearances

Significant appearances in 1992 on the television program Titchmarsh on Song, presented by Alan Titchmarsh and in 1993 in the show Thora on the Straight and Narrow presented Libera first time in front of a larger audience. On this occasion the choir entitled " De Profundis " was the first time in public, which later became "Liberation " and the group has given its name.

Libera has created many videos for the program series Songs of Praise and Classic FM TV over time. Other guest appearances were made, among others, in the broadcasts GMTV, Blue Peter, Sunday Live, Christmas Cooks, Top of the Pops, Wogan, and Last Choir Standing.

In 1994, sung in an episode of the television series Poirot of St Philip's Choir, Libera appeared in 2003 as the last guest of the final mission in the famous British TV series This Is Your Life on, in this mission was about Aled Jones, here was also known the Liberation had sung on Aled Jones wedding.

In February 2007, Libera took part in the television contest When Will I Be Famous presented by Graham Norton in part on BBC 1. They won and were invited back for the following week. Libera has completed several TV appearances in Japan and Korea over the years and also recorded the theme song of the series Songs of Praise. Her rendition of the song " How Can I Keep From Singing" was used in an advert for the English department store chain Waitrose.

On 30 and 31 May 2007 Liberation, in collaboration with American Public Television two concerts in the Pieterskerk in Leiden (Netherlands). A summary of the concerts was for the television special broadcast Angel Voices: Libera in Concert used. The program was broadcast on the U.S. television broadcasting network PBS and released by EMI on CD and DVD. The DVD includes a bonus video " Libera in Their Own Words ," which contains interviews of some of the boys. A half-hour special broadcast of Songs of Praise about Libera aired on BBC 1.

As part of the Philippines tour in 2010 Liberation occurred on 14 April 2010 on the Showtime broadcast and sang Bayan Ko, a popular Philippine song.

Concerts

By 2004, Libera is mainly in the United Kingdom has, for example, on the Grassington Festival, in Arundel Cathedral, Glastonbury Abbey, in the cathedral of Chichester, in the St. John 's Church in Devon, St. Wilfred 's Church, the Croydon Fairfield Halls, the Royal Albert Hall and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

2005

In April 2005, Libera visit Japan for the first time. They had appearances in the Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo and Yokohama Britz in Kanagawa Prefecture. In October, they visited Japan again. They sang in the Art Center of Aichi Prefecture, the Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 and the Bunkyō Civic Hall in Tokyo.

2006

Libera Far Away song has been chosen as the theme song of the Japanese television series The Ice Wall NHK. From 14 to 19 February 2006 Libera was in Japan on a promotional tour for this TV series.

2007

In April 2007, followed by appearances in the Symphony in Osaka, Aichi Prefectural Art Theatre of and Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo. All concerts were a great success. Nine boys from Libera sang in December 2007 at the Kennedy Center Honors Awards before the President of the United States George W. Bush and many famous personalities. As part of the honor of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys Libera sang his song "Love and Mercy". During this presentation Libera was supported by a choir of St. Albans School, which is in communication with the Washington National Cathedral.

2008

In April 2008, Libera went on their first tour of the United States with concerts in Buffalo, Hartford, Albany, Pittsburgh and Riverside Church in New York City, New York. On April 20, 2008 Liberation occurred in the context of Concerts of Hope before the Papal Mass in Yankee Stadium in front of 60,000 people.

2009

Libera visited Japan in January 2009 to promote the film Nobody to Watch Over Me. Libera sang the official soundtrack You Were There for this movie. In April 2009, Libera returned to a new concert tour back to Japan and entered into the Miyagi Hall in Sendai as well as to two concerts in the Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo. In addition, you appeared on a charity concert. From Japan from Libera flew to California where he performed concerts in St. Margaret 's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert and at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Orange County.

Prior to sold-out houses followed in summer 2009 concerts at the National Concert Hall in Dublin on St. Peter's Cathedral in Belfast and St. Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh.

In October 2009, Libera toured the Philippines ( sponsored by the British Alumni Association). The first concert took place on 28 October in the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in the capital Manila instead, the concert was sold out. On October 28, a concert followed at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City. The repertoire of the concert included the song " Orinoco Flow " by Enya, in which the island of Cebu is called. As a bonus, Libera sang the song Bayan Ko, a popular Filipino song in Tagalog.

2010

In April 2010, Libera returned for a series of concerts in Asia, as the first two more concerts in the Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Japan on April 8 and 9. From here, they traveled to Seoul, South Korea, where they gave a concert at the Sejong Cultural Center on April 1. Then they flew to the Philippines to promote their latest album "Peace". They completed there on April 16, two performances at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza.

On May 15, 2010, a concert in England took place in western Sussex in Arundel Cathedral.

The Summer Tour 2010 Libera led again to the United States with concerts in the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church on 1 August in Dallas, Texas, the Arborlawn United Methodist Church on August 2 in Fort Worth, Texas, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis on August 5 in St. Louis, Missouri, the Brentwood United Methodist Church on August 8, Nashville, Tennessee, and finally the Peachtree Presbyterian Church on August 10 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Returned to England joined Libera in 2010 with concerts in English cathedrals from. The first of these concerts took place on 27 October in Clifton Cathedral in Bristol takes followed by a concert in Chester Cathedral in Chester. On November 19 Liberation occurred in the St. George 's Cathedral on in the Borough of Southwark, London, and a day later in Beverley Minster, Beverley in Yorkshire.

2011

The year 2011 began with a Libera concert at the Epsom Playhouse in Epsom, Surrey, on March 18.

The first canadian tour started on April 14 at St. Michael 's Catholic Cathedral in Toronto (Ontario), more gigs followed on 15 April at the First St. Andrew's United Church in London ( Ontario), on 17 April in the Islington United Church in Toronto (Ontario ), the Centre in the Square in Kitchener (Ontario) on April 18, in Chatham St. Paul's Congregational Church (Ontario) on April 19, the West Highland Baptist Church in Hamilton (Ontario) on April 22 and concluded on 24 April, the Church of our Lady Immaculate in Guelph (Ontario).

The next big U.S. tour took place in the summer of 2011, and graduated from Libera six appearances during this time. Even before the start of the Tour Libera was invited to sing on the charity gala of the Starkey Hearing Foundation on July 24 in Saint Paul ( Minnesota). Guest was, among other things, U.S. President Bill Clinton.

The locations of the six concerts were: On 27 July, the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis, Minnesota, July 29, St. Paul's Cathedral in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on July 31, the Rockefeller Chapel in Chicago, Illinois, on 3 August, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 7 the Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco (Texas), Texas, and on August 9 the Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

Was held on November 25, 2011 at Alexandra Palace, London, the special program for the 50th anniversary of the BBC series Songs of Praise instead. In addition to stars like Andrea Bocelli and Katherine Jenkins and Aled Jones also hosts Libera sang as part of a choir, composed of well-known English choirs along with the audience during this show. A summary of the special broadcast was shown a week later on BBC One.

For another successful concert tour in the Philippines Liberation broke up in October 2011. The concerts took place as two years before the PICC in Manila and at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City, notably: on 25 and 28 October. Both concerts were sold out. Libera's new album The Christmas Album subsequently reached directly the top of the CD charts in the Philippines.

25 November 2011 Libera returned to a renewed concert in the St. George 's Cathedral in the Borough of Southwark, London back.

2012

The first tour in 2012 was Libera leave for Asia with concerts on April 6th and 7th 2012 at the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore on 13 and 14 April, again in the sold Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo.

On May 5, 2012 took again a concert in England in the Arundel Cathedral in western Sussex instead. Also, this concert was sold out.

For the summer 2012 Libera has a tour to the Channel Islands announced concerts on 1 and 2 August at Jersey Opera House in Saint Helier in [ Jersey ] and on 7 and 8 August in the St James Hall in Saint Peter Port on Guernsey.
