Lind-Nationalpark

The Lind National Park is a national park in the eastern part of the Australian state of Victoria. It is located in eastern Gippsland on Princes Highway between Orbost and Cann River, 353 kilometers east of Melbourne. The 1,370 -hectare area was declared a National Park in 1925 and named after Sir Albert Lind, the former Minister of Agriculture, Victoria, who initiated five new national parks.

History

During the Victorian gold rush in the second half of the 19th century gold was also washed in the streams in this area. The small town of Club Terrace was named after the Ace of Clubs and the mine tailings terraces, which remained after the end of prospecting.

Vegetation

In Lind National Park you will find warm temperate rain forest with a variety of Eucalyptus species, eg Gray (Eucalyptus punctata), Messmate Ash and Silvertop Ash. Along the streams flow Peppermint is encountered. Especially nice deep red blooms Telopea October to December.

Facilities

On Grawler Creek there is a picnic area. The Euchre Valley Nature Drive is the crossing of the rain forest by car.
