Lödla

Lödla is a municipality in the administrative community Rositz in the Thuringian district Altenburger Land. It is about 4 km west of the county town of Altenburg.

Adjacent communities are (clockwise) Rositz, the town of Altenburg, Göhren and Monstab.

Community structure

The community Lödla consists of the districts Oberlödla and Unterlödla. In the district Oberlödla find the settlements Rödigen, Meadow Mountain and Wilhelm Pieck settlement.

History

Castle and manor of Oberlödla were until 1945 owned by the family of Poellnitz. The last owner, Karl von Poellnitz, was a noted botanist and Honorary Member of the " Natural History Society of Easter country." An air raid on 14 February 1945, the southwest corner of the castle was taken, 33 inhabitants of the village, including Charles and Margaret of Poellnitz and her 9- year-old daughter, came under a cross vault killed. The two sons were after they were released from Soviet captivity, imprisoned and used for forced labor in the brown coal mine. They managed to escape to West Germany. 1948 almost the entire manor was demolished.

  • SPD - 7 seats ( 89.2 %)
  • UWG - 1 seat ( 10.8%)
