Luka Å pik

Luka Spik ( born February 9, 1979 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian rower. With one Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals at the Olympic games, he is one of the most successful athletes of Slovenia.

Spik was at junior level of the best one - rower. In his first year in the adult class he formed in 1999 with Iztok Čop a double sculls who dominated this class of boat right away. The two won at the 1999 World Championships and at the Olympic Games in 2000 they came for the first Olympic gold medal for Slovenia at all. From 2001 Čop tried in one, as already before 1999, while Spik with other partners could not row in the medals at the World Championships.

At the 2004 Olympic Games Luka Spik and Iztok Čop came back to together, but surprisingly lost against the French Sébastien Vieilledent and Adrien Hardy. 2005 Spik and Čop competed at the World Championships in two boat classes, the day after winning the double sculls erruderten the two silver in the quadruple sculls. After 2006, the two won silver at the World Rowing Championships 2007 in Munich gold again.
