Mahiedine Mekhissi - Benabbad ( born March 15, 1985 in Reims ) is a French hurdler Algerian descent.

Career

In 2007 he was Under-23 European champion in 3000 -meter steeplechase. At the World Championships in Osaka, he left in the flow.

At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he won with his personal best time of 8:10,49 min the silver medal, 15 hundredths of a second behind the reigning world champion Kiprop Kipruto Brimin (KEN ) and 12 hundredths of a second ahead of his compatriot Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong.
