Manfred Mölgg

Manfred Mölgg ( born June 3, 1982 in Bruneck ) is an Italian alpine skier from South Tyrol. His younger sister Manuela Mölgg also a member of the Italian national ski team. The South Tyrolean previously won two slalom at the World Cup and in 2007 vice world champion in this discipline. In each case a bronze medal he won at the World Championships in 2011 ( Garmisch -Partenkirchen ) in the slalom and 2013 ( Schladming ) in the giant slalom.

Biography

Mölgg began at the age of four years with the skiing. Under the care of his uncle Marco Kaneider 1997 he managed the leap into the South Tyrolean provincial cadres. Since 2000 he heard the Italian national ski team at: first the C- squad, as of 2002 the B-team, and finally from 2003 to the A-team. In 2003, he won his first Italian championship in slalom.

Since January 2003, he regularly takes part in the race for the Ski World Cup. His first podium he reached in January 2004, when he finished second in the slalom in Schladming behind the Austrian Benjamin Raich.

2005 Mölgg participated in the World Ski Championships in Bormio, reaching in the giant slalom the 13th Place. At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin but he dropped out in the slalom and giant slalom. He celebrated his biggest success with the 2007 World Ski Championships in Åre, where he won the silver medal in the slalom.

9 March 2008 Mölgg succeeded in the slalom in Kranjska Gora, the first victory in the Alpine Skiing World Cup, after he had previously stood on the podium ten times. In the final slalom race of the season 2007/ 08 in Bormio, he secured the victory in the slalom discipline standings. In the World Cup season 2008/ 09 he secured in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, the second slalom win of his career. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère, he finished twelfth in the giant slalom. In his second Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver, he finished seventh in the slalom and 22nd in the giant slalom.

At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he won the bronze medal in the slalom at the World Championships 2013 in Schladming in the giant slalom bronze medal.
