Marakwet District

Marakwet District is one of 18 districts in Kenya's Rift Valley Province. In Marakwet lived 1999 140.629 people. The capital of the district is Kapsowar. The largest city is Kapcherop with 39,328 inhabitants.

The district was created in 1994 from the Elegeyo - Marakwet District in 1927, from which also the Keiyo District was formed.
