Mehdi Bennani

Mehdi Bennani ( born August 25, 1983 in Fes ) is a Moroccan racing driver.

Career

Beginnings in motorsport

Like most racers began Mehdi Bennani with the kart and won the 2001 Moroccan championship. He also won the Moroccan Fiat Palio Trophy in the same year. He then switched to the single-seaters and in 2004 was runner-up in the Formula BMW Asia. From 2005 he drove for the Avalon Formula team in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series where he competed against drivers like Robert Kubica. He started in 2006 for the team Euro International. In 2007 he joined the Euro Series 3000 in which he won the fourth place. In 2008 he started in Pau when Pau Historic Grand Prix, which he finished second.

World Touring Car Championship

In May 2009, Bennani was in his home on the Marrakech Street Circuit his debut in the World Touring Car Championship. He was driving a Seat Leon 2.0 TFSI, which has been prepared by Exagon Engineering. He was sponsored by the Moroccan Tourist Office. Bennani was the first North Africans in the WTCC, which fought out at the same time her first race on the African continent. He qualified for the 14th place and finished the first race in ninth and best privateer. In the second race he was also ninth and was therefore unable to recommend for further use in the WTCC. Exagon Engineering still put him in four other races.

In 2010, Bennani will be driving a BMW 320si of the Wiechers - Sport team.
