Metro Vancouver
The Metro Vancouver ( legally Greater Vancouver Regional District ) is a region Aldi strictness in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It encompasses the metropolitan area around the city of Vancouver and consists of 21 municipalities. Although they are independent, transferred, however, certain government services to the Regional Director strictness. Administrative headquarters of the Regional Director is Strikts Burnaby, while Vancouver is the largest city.
Colloquially, the area of the Metro Vancouver is often referred to as Greater Vancouver, Greater Vancouver although with only the urban areas are meant within the region Aldi Strikts. As defined by Statistics Canada, the Vancouver metropolitan area ( Census Metropolitan Area ) has the same area as the Regional Director strictness.
Geography
The district is located in the southwest of the province and is directly adjacent to the United States. At the census in 2011 2.313.328 inhabitants were determined that Metro has an area of 2882.55 km ². Of the 30 largest municipalities in the province are 13 in Greater Vancouver.

The District consists of 21 municipalities and one unincorporated area (as of 2011 ):
The Greater Vancouver Electoral Area A comprises all unincorporated areas in Metro Vancouver. In 2011, the population of these areas was 13,035. There are also 17 First Nations Indian reservations, which self-government was granted and are not under a municipality or the district. In 2011, there lived a total of 6,525 people.
Administrative role
The basic tasks of Metro Vancouver, the management of natural resources and services that are needed throughout the district. This includes, among other things, urban planning, water supply and sewerage, wastewater treatment, transportation and parks.
The Metro Vancouver oversees TransLink, which is responsible for public transport, bridges and highways in the region. Translink also operates the AirCare program, which has the reduction of pollutant emissions from automobiles to the destination.
