Michael Köhler

Michael Köhler ( born February 26, 1944 in Zwickau ) is a former German luger.

Michael Köhler is the younger brother of the Luge Olympic champion Thomas Köhler and started like this for SC tractor Oberwiesenthal. In 1965 he won with Wolfgang Scheidel the title in doubles at the FIL World Luge Championships in Davos. In 1969, he was with Klaus -Michael Bonsack World Cup Third, a year later, he took on the Bonsacks side behind the Austrian double Manfred Schmid and Ewald Walch Vice World Champion title.

National he was successful since the first half of the 1960s. 1963 Kohler was in Oberbärenburg runners behind his brother. A year later he won on the spit mountain railway in Friedrichroda the title in front of his later doubles partner Bonsack. In doubles, he won the bronze medal with Scheidel 1964 and 1965. In 1969 he was runner-up behind with Bonsack Horst Hörnlein and Reinhard Bredow. A year later, both won the title.

In the 5th term ( 1967-1971 ), he represented the FDJ in the People's Chamber of the GDR.
