Mikkel Bødker

Mikkel Bødker ( born December 16, 1989 in Brøndby ) is a Danish ice hockey player who stands since 2008 at the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Mikkel Bødker began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the Rødovre Mighty Bulls, for the second team, he ran aground in the second Danish league, the 1st Division in the 2004/05 season in a game, before then at the age of 15 years moved to Sweden for Frölunda HC. There he played a few games for the Under-18 side to have completed the majority of the season but at the U20 Juniors, where he had a good first season with nine goals and eight assists and moved with Frölunda to the finals of the playoffs. In the season 2006/ 07 he finally became a driving force in the youth team Frölunda and scored 49 points scorer in 39 games. In the playoffs, he led the team to the Junior Championship and was the best scorer of the finals. He also graduated in the season two games with the professionals in the Elitserien.

Bødker then moved to North America where he played for the Kitchener Rangers in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League. There, too, he added equally well and was with 29 goals and 44 assist in 62 games the second best scorer of his team behind Justin Azevedo, who led the entire league in points. In the playoffs, the Rangers pulled with only one defeat in the first three rounds of the finals against the Belleville Bulls one with whom they fought a final series fought, from which they eventually emerged victorious and the J. Ross Robertson Cup won. Bødker helped in the 20 playoff games nine goals and 26 Assists in and was only one point behind teammate Azevedo, who was awarded the Most Valuable Player. Bødker himself was elected to the All- Rookie team of the season of the OHL. After the OHL season, he took with the Rangers at the Memorial Cup, the championship tournament of the three major Canadian junior leagues, in part. Here, too, drew a Kitchener to the finals, but failed there to the Spokane Chiefs.

Mikkel Bødker was led into the rankings of the NHL Entry Draft in 2008 for Best European of North American ranking eleventh and was eventually selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round at position eight. A few months later in the training camp of the Coyotes, he was already able to prevail in the NHL squad and was given a starting place. In just his second game on October 12, 2008, he scored his first goal in the NHL against the Anaheim Ducks. In the 2008 /09 season he scored eleven goals and 17 assists in 78 games for Phoenix. Due to its good performance in his rookie year he was allowed to participate in the NHL Young Stars Game 2009. In the following season the Dane lost his place and he came mostly for Phoenix ' farm team in San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League action. In the season 2010/11 the national team played about equally often for the NHL team the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. With the Coyotes, he failed in the first playoff round to the Detroit Red Wings.
