Moimay

Moimay is a commune in the French department of Haute- Saône in the Franche-Comté region and is part of the Canton of Villers Exel. Since March 2002, Roland grass Perger mayor of the municipality.

Geography

The place is located in a slightly hilly landscape above the river Ognon, just over a mile west of Villers Exel.

History

The Battle of Villers Exel on January 9, 1871 was an episode of the German - Prussian War of 1870 /, 1871. Part of the battle took place in the field of Moimay.

Population

With 223 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Moimay one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. 1968 was recorded with 209 residents, a provisional maximum level. Since the early 1980s, the population decreases slightly.

Structures

A church from the 19th century has been restored. It houses among others a confessional and two statues from the 18th century.
