Les Magny

Les Magny is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Les Magny is located at an altitude of 280 m above sea level, 3 km south of Villers Exel, and 24 km east-southeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village extends in the plane of Villersexel, in the valley of the Ruisseau de Peute -Vue in the catchment of Ognon, on the northern edge of the hills between the valleys of Ognon and Doubs.

The area of ​​11.46 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plains at Villers Exel. The main part of the territory occupied by the broad valley of the Ruisseau de Peute -Vue, which is on average 280 m. The creek crosses the area from east to west and provides drainage to Ognon. To the north of the municipality of soil ranges on a plateau ( 300 m above sea level), which consists of limestone. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. To the west of Ognon forms the border, which meanders through a wide valley. To the south, the municipality's area covers over the mostly flat country with the vast forest Les Grands Bois to the stream of Bief d' Auta, another left tributary of the Ognon. In the far south the land rises to the ridge of the Bois du Chanoi, on the 387- m, the highest elevation of Les Magny is achieved.

The municipality of Les Magny consists of two districts:

  • Le Grand- Magny (280 m) at the Ruisseau de Peute -Vue north of the Bois du Chanoi
  • Le Petit- Magny (275 m) at the Ruisseau de Peute -Vue north of the Grands Bois

Neighboring communities of Magny Les Villers are Exel and Villers- la -Ville in the north, Mélecey and Fallon in the east, and Abbenans Cubry in the south and Pont -sur- l'Ognon and Autrey- le- Vay in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages the area of Les Magny belonged to the rule Villersexel. Together with the Franche -Comté reached Le Petit- Magny Magny - Le Grand and with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since the time of the French Revolution, the two towns form the municipality of Les Magny. Since 2000, Les Magny is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Attractions

In Le Grand- Magny the church of Notre -Dame de la Nativity, which was built in the 17th century stands. The place is marked by numerous houses from the 17th to the 19th century in the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône. Also in Le Grand- Magny are the Mairie ( Municipal House ) and a Lavoir of 1831, which once served as well, wash and livestock watering.

Population

With 131 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Les Magny one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 338 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Les Magny was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Villersexel to Fallon. Further road links exist with Villers- la -Ville, Autrey- le- Vay and Pont -sur- l'Ognon.
