Villafans

Villa fans is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Villa fans situated at an altitude of 280 m above sea level, 5 km northeast of Villers Exel and about 24 km east of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village extends in the plane of Villersexel, in a hollow of the Ruisseau des Noyes -Vergers in the catchment of Ognon.

The area of ​​6.44 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plains at Villers Exel. The central part of the area is occupied by a gently undulating landscape, which is drained by the village stream Ruisseau des Noyes -Vergers south to Scey. The Scey flows with many windings through a broad alluvial plain west to Ognon. It forms the southern boundaries and takes on the ground from Villa fans, various other inflows, including the Rognon and the Ruisseau Basse -Fontaine. The weakly in relief terrain is used predominantly agricultural, but also shows some forest areas. To the north, the municipality's area extends to the wooded hills of the Grand Bois, at the 361 m, the highest elevation of Villa fans is achieved. These hills are composed of limestone of the middle Jurassic period. With a narrow corner of the area extends northward to the valley of the Ruisseau de la Saline.

Neighboring municipalities of Villa fans are Gouhenans in the north, Athesans - ETROITEFONTAINE and Senargent - Mignafans in the east, Beveuge and Villers- la -Ville in the south and Saint- Sulpice and Longevelle in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Villa fans belonged to the rule Granges, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard. Later it was part of the rule Villersexel. Together with the Franche -Comté reached Villa fans with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since 2000 Villa fans is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Attractions

The village church of Villa fans built in the 19th century. On the road to ETROITEFONTAINE is an Oratory, which was built in 1854. In the center a few houses from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved in the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône. Additional area attractions include the covered Lavoir ( 19th century) in the form of a crescent, which once served as well, wash and livestock watering.

Population

With 195 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Villa fans is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891, 308 staff were still counted ), only relatively small variations have since been recorded.

Economy and infrastructure

Villa fans was well into the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Villersexel after Athesans - ETROITEFONTAINE. Further road links exist with Longevelle, Gouhenans and Villers- la -Ville.
