Aillevans

Aillevans is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Aillevans situated at an altitude of 295 m above sea level, 5 km north of Villers Exel and about 20 km east of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village stretches west from the valley of the Ognon, in the hollow of his side stream Ruisseau des Noyes, at the eastern foot of the ridge of the Mont

The area of ​​5.78 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the valley of Ognon. The eastern boundary runs mostly along the Ognon, the multiple turn it flows through alluvial plain to the south. The plane is on average 270 m and is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. From the river, the municipality's area extends westward into the well of the village stream Ruisseau des Noyes and on the adjacent hills. West of the village rises the so-called Montreal, in the 393 meters is the highest point of Aillevans is achieved. It consists of resistant limestone of the middle Jurassic period. To the south, the municipality's area extends to the edge of the extensive forests of the Bois de l' Ognon and the Grand Fougeray.

Aillevans consists of an upper part of the village on the plateau at the eastern foot of Mont and a lower part of the village in the hollow of the Ruisseau des Noyes. Neighboring communities of Aillevans are Arpenans and Les Aynans in the north, Longevelle and Saint-Sulpice in the east, the south and Villersexel Oppenans and Oricourt in the West.

History

The territory of Aillevans was inhabited in prehistoric times. In the Bois du Blusseret to tumuli, one of which was explored in 1973 were archaeologically. During the excavations a dolmen from the Neolithic appeared. Other collective tombs date from the Bronze Age.

Together with the Franche -Comté Aillevans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To a field change occurred in 1807, when Oricourt was incorporated into Aillevans. 1819 Oricourt got its independence but back again. Since 2000 Aillevans is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Attractions

The village church of Aillevans was rebuilt in 1737 and completely restored in 1845. It has a rich interior with furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries. In the village, many houses in the traditional style of the Haute -Saône are obtained, the oldest dating from the 16th century. Outside of the village towards Oricourt is the dolmen of Aillevans, which is now protected by a wooden structure.

Population

With 140 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Aillevans one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1911 307 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Aillevans was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes, but is easily accessible from the secondary road that leads from Villersexel by Lure. Further road links exist with Oppenans, Oricourt and Longevelle.
