Saint-Ferjeux

Saint- Ferjeux is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Saint- Ferjeux situated at an altitude of 298 m above sea level, 6 km east of Villers Exel and 28 km east-southeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village stretches along the edge of the plain of Villersexel north of the Ruisseau de la Prairie, on the northwestern edge of the hills, which stretches between the valleys of Ognon and Doubs.

The area of ​​1.77 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plains at Villers Exel. The entire area is occupied by a plateau, which is on average 300 m and is slightly inclined towards the west. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. East of the village is 318 m reaches the highest point of Saint- Ferjeux. The area is drained by the Ruisseau de la Prairie, which marks the southern and western boundary of the municipality.

Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Ferjeux are Beveuge and Senargent - Mignafans in the north, Vellechevreux -et- Courbenans in the east, the south and Georfans Villargent in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Saint- Ferjeux belonged to the rule Granges, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. After that it was in the 18th century in the sphere of influence of the Lords of Grammont ( Villersexel ). Since 2000, Saint- Ferjeux is a member of the 33- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Villers Exel.

Attractions

The village church of Saint- Ferjeux was extensively rebuilt in 1842 and has a square bell tower with pyramidal roof. In-room amenities include several altars from the previous building and the statues in the church cartridge Saint Ferréol and Saint Ferjeux.

Population

With 81 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Saint- Ferjeux one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the area between 35 and 60 people to 1990 a significant increase in population was recorded. Since then, however, the trend is declining again.

Economy and infrastructure

Saint- Ferjeux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, working in the village inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road that leads from Villersexel after Héricourt. Further road links exist with Beveuge and Senargent.
