Nadia Fanchini

Nadia Fanchini ( born June 25, 1986 in Lovere ) is an Italian alpine skier. She specializes in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G. Her older sister Elena and her younger sister Sabrina are also ski racers.

Biography

Fanchini belongs to the sports group Fiamme Gialle. In 1999, she won the slalom of the Trofeo Topolino and giant slalom at the Whistler Cup. In the juniors, she won three World Championship titles: 2004 in Maribor in the Super- G, 2005 in Bardonecchia in the downhill and giant slalom. Another silver medal she won in the Super -G.

Her debut in the World Cup was Fanchini on 13 December 2003 on the Gran Risa in Alta Badia. On December 7, 2008, she won her first World Cup race with the Super -G of Lake Louise. She reached the fourth place in the Super - G at the 2005 World Championships in Bormio. In its Olympic debut in Torino in 2006, she was tenth in the downhill and eighth in the giant slalom. At the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère, she won the bronze medal in the downhill.

In the 2009/10 season Fanchini crashed at the World Cup Super -G in St. Moritz hard and injured on both knees. She had the season prematurely and could even in winter 2010/11 deny any race. After almost two years break from racing she announced on 21 January 2012 at the World Cup giant slalom in Kranjska Gora her comeback.

At the World Championships 2013 in Schladming they surprisingly won the silver medal in the downhill.
