Niersbach

Niersbach in the Eifel is a municipality in the municipality Wittlich -Land in the district Bernkastel -Wittlich in Rhineland- Palatinate.

Geography

The Niersbach is located in the Eifel region. The municipality consists of the two districts Niersbach and Greverath well as residential places Upper Mill, Lower Mill and Wenzel Hausen.

History

Niersbach was first mentioned in 1473 as Nydersbach documented.

Gorgeous country belonged Niersbach and Greverath until the late 18th century the Duchy of Luxembourg and was part of the rule breaking.

After 1792 French Revolutionary troops had the Austrian Netherlands, which included the Duchy of Luxembourg, occupied and annexed in October 1795. From 1795 to 1814 belonged to both places to Canton Dudeldorf in the department of forests.

In 1815, the former Luxembourg territory east of the Sauer and the Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. In order for the communities Niersbach and Greverath came 1816 Wittlich district in the Trier region in the province of the Grand Duchy of the Lower Rhine, which merged in 1822 in the Rhine Province.

Today's church was re-formed on 10 June 1979 the dissolved municipalities Niersbach and Greverath.

The local council in Niersbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The twelve seats in the City Council are distributed among three groups of voters.
