Nong Prue District

Amphoe Nong Prue ( Thai อำเภอ หนอง ปรือ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the Kanchanaburi province. The Kanchanaburi province is located in the western part of central Thailand.

Etymology

Nong ( Thai: หนอง ) means marsh or swamp, Prue ( Thai: ปรือ ) is Scleria poiformis Retz .. So bedeutetder name translates as sedge marsh.

Geography

The neighboring districts are ( from east clockwise): Amphoe the Lao Khwan, Bo Phloi and Si Sawat of Kanchanaburi Province and Amphoe Dan Chang of Suphanburi province.

History

The area of present-day district Nong Prue was formerly called Ban Nong Prue and was in Tambon Nong Ri of Amphoe Bo Phloi. It Tambon Nong Prue later became. On 1 April 1992 Tambon Nong Prue, together with Nong Pla Lai removed by the Interior Ministry of Bo Phloi and set up a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) Nong Prue. A little later the third Tambon Somdet Charoen was also assigned to the district Nong Prue. Since October 11, 1997 Nong Prue has the full Amphoe status.
