Tha Muang District

Amphoe Tha Muang ( Thai: อำเภอ ท่าม่วง ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the southern part of the province of Kanchanaburi. The Kanchanaburi province to the west of Central Thailand on the border with Myanmar.

Geography

The neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Dan Makham the Tia, Mueang Kanchanaburi, Bo Phloi, Phanom Thuan and Tha Maka of Kanchanaburi Province, and Amphoe Ban Pong and Chom Bueng Ratchaburi Province.

The most important water resource is the Maenam Mae Klong ( Mae Klong River ). The Mae Klong Dam, which impounds the Maenam Mae Klong, is also located in this district.

History

The area of Tha Muang was already inhabited during the Iron Age, as archaeological excavations prove. During excavations in 1969 the earliest glass rings were found on Thai soil, which are dated to the 4th century. In addition, there are a number of references to the processing of iron and a material culture that was close to those of Funan (now South Vietnam ).

The circle Tha Muang was established in 1898 under the name Tai ( ใต้ - south ) established the first district leader was called Chom ( ชม ). When later attracted the inhabitants of the district south to Wat Si Loha Council Bamrung, the name Wang khanai ( วัง ข นาย ) was changed. In 1941, as Phra Woraphak Phibun was district director, the name was again changed to Tha Muang, named after the central tambon.

Management

The circle is divided into 13 subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 113 villages ( Muban ).

There is a city ( Mueang thesaban ) in the district of Kanchanaburi ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง กาญจนบุรี ) consists of parts of the tambon Tha Lo.

In addition, there are seven small towns ( Tambon thesaban ):

  • Tha Muang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่าม่วง ) consists of parts of the tambon Tha Muang same name,
  • Samrong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สำรอง ) consists of parts of the tambon Phang Tru,
  • Nong Khao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ขาว ) consists of parts of the same Tambon Nong Khao
  • Nong Takya ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ตาก ยา ) consists of parts of the same Tambon Nong Takya,
  • Wang khanai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล วัง ข นาย ) consists of the whole Tambon Wang khanai,
  • Wang Sala ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล วัง ศาลา ) consists of the whole tambon Sala Wang,
  • Tha Lo ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ล้อ ) consists of parts of the tambon เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ล้อ.

Furthermore, there are 10 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
