Oberkurzheim is a municipality with 695 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district Mur Valley in Styria. The municipality is located in the judicial district Jews castle. The settlement pattern is characterized by individual villages without direct center. From 1 January 2015, the community context of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the community Pöls is merged, the new community will continue to use the name " Pöls ".

Geography

Geographical Location

Oberkurzheim is located in the Austrian province of Styria north of Jews Castle in Pölstal. The lowest point of the municipality is located at about 790 m on the municipal boundary to Pöls ( between Pöls and Gusterheim ), the highest point of the municipality is the Wildinger height to 1721 m on the border of St. Oswald- Möderbrugg and Gaal.

Neighboring communities

History

Oberkurzheim was first mentioned in documents in 1140. The settlements in Mosing, Thaling, Götzdorf, Mauterndorf, Katz Ling, winches and Unterzeiring emerged later. In the 12th century, the sovereign's toll plaza was built in the middle of the valley in the village Katz Ling.

The high court in Birkachwald at Unterzeiring and the gallows were mentioned in documents in 1574. The Liechtenstein had the seat of the judge in Unterzeiring. Remains of the gallows can still be admired today as a tourist attraction in Katz Ling. In the former courthouse is now home to the " Katzlinger host ".

The municipality Oberkurzheim was built in 1849 /50.

The council consists of nine members and is since the municipal elections 2010 mandatary of the following parties together:

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 June 1998. Blazon (Coat of Arms description): " In a split of black and gold shield a fallen farbverwechselte tip, it farbverwechselt a ploughshare. "

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

The Pölstal is traversed in the municipal area from the southeast to the northwest of the Triebener road B 114. It runs from Pöls coming through Thaling, Mauterndorf and Katz Ling. Unterzeiring is south bypass of the B 114 since 2001. In Katz Ling the Götzendorfer road L 533 branches off to the east of the B 114 and the left leads the Pölsflusses by Götzdorf to Thaling, Moosing, Oberkurzheim and Pöls past to Rattenberger road L 503 intermediate Thaling and Gusterheim it forms the municipal boundary to Pöls. Neither Oberkurzheim nor the other, upstream in Pölstal located communities have a connection to the railway network. The nearest passenger station is located in Thalheim.
