Orvin B. Fjare

Orvin Benonie Fjare (* April 16, 1918 in Big Timber, Montana, † June 27, 2011 in Helena, Montana ) was an American politician. Between 1955 and 1957 he represented the state of Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Early years

Orvin Fjare was born on a ranch in Sweet Grass County, Montana. He attended the common schools and then worked in a clothing store in Big Timber. Later he became a partner in this business. In 1940, he joined as an ordinary soldier in the U.S. Army. During the Second World War, he was first in the artillery and then used as a pilot in the South Pacific. At the end of his military service in 1946 he had attained the rank of Captain.

Political career

Orvin Fjare was a member of the Republican Party. From 1952 to 1954 he was a member of the Welfare Commission of Montana ( Public Welfare Commission). At the same time, he was curator of the public schools in Big Timber. In the congressional elections of 1954 he was elected to succeed Wesley A. D' Ewart in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he completed between January 1955 and January 3, 1957 3 a legislature. In the congressional elections of 1956, he failed to LeRoy H. Anderson, the candidate of the Democratic Party.

In 1959 he was elected to the House of Representatives from Montana. At that time he was also active in the insurance industry. In 1960, candidate Fjare unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Between 1962 and 1969 he was a director of the Highway Administration ( Highway Department ) of Montana. His last public office held Orvin Fjare 1970 to 1979 as head of the federal agency responsible for managing State building in Montana. Most recently, he lived in his birthplace of Big Timber.
