Pavel Brendl

Pavel Brendl ( born March 23, 1981 in Nové Město nad Metují, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who stands in December 2013 in the Lusatian foxes in the DEL2 under contract.

Career

Pavel Brendl learned the Hockey game at HC Olomouc, for whom he played in the Czech junior league in until 1998. In the 1997/98 season he also completed 12 games in the men's team from Olomouc, which was playing in the second-rate first league. After playing at the U18 European Championship, Brendl moved to North America to the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League.

In his first year he dominated the WHL and led his team to the WHL championship and to the finals at the Memorial Cup. The WHL and CHL showered him with awards such as the CHL Top Draft Prospect Award, the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy and the election in several All-Star teams. The services shown motivated the New York Rangers during the NHL Entry Draft Brendl 1999 in the first round to select as the Fourth. The following WHL season, he scored 111 points scorer and was the top scorer of his team. After the end of the season in the WHL, he was appointed to the farm team of the Rangers, the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League, where he completed two playoff games. In his third year in Calgary, he completed during the regular season only 49 games for the Hitmen ( 40 goals and 39 assists) and excelled in the WHL playoffs with seven goals and six assists in ten games.

In August 2001, he was discharged together with Jan Hlaváč, Kim Johnsson and a draft law to the Philadelphia Flyers, who sent for Eric Lindros to New York. The Flyers Brendl also came to his first NHL inserts, played most of the season 2001 /02 but with the Philadelphia Phantoms in the AHL. His first full NHL season, he completed in the following season, during which he was transferred to the Carolina Hurricanes. But even in Carolina, he could not prevail and played 2003/ 04 mainly for the Lowell Lock Monsters in the AHL. During the lockout in the NHL 2004/ 05 Brendl changed from a European club to the next: from HC Ocelari Třinec on ​​the HC Olomouc at the Malmö Redhawks, later in the Mestis to Jokipojat Joensuu and finally he landed the HC Thurgau in the National League B. after the lockout, he returned to Lowell and was sent in December 2005 to the Phoenix Coyotes, the charges for Krystofer Kolanos to Carolina. After a disappointing 2005/06 season with only two NHL games for the Coyotes, he returned North America 's back and signed a contract with the Swedish first division club Mora IK. There he became the top scorer of the season 2006/07. He also participated successfully at the Spengler Cup and was elected there to the All- Star team.

The services shown earned him a three- year contract with the Premier League rivals Brynäs IF. This, however, he left after only one year to played from 2008 to 2010 for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established. At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he was at Kalpa Kuopio in the Finnish SM- liiga under contract before moving in November 2010 to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the KHL. At the end of the season his contract was not renewed. In November 2011, he was committed for the rest of the season from the Rapperswil -Jona Lakers. End of May 2012 it was announced that Brendl will return back to HC Pardubice for the 2012/13 season. During the 2013/14 season he was loaned for one month at the HC Kometa Brno, but since December 2013 is available at the Lusatian foxes in the DEL2 under contract.

Internationally

Pavel Brendl represented his native country at two Czech Junior Championships: 1998 he took part in the U18 European Championship and he was with the U20 Selection 2001 World Champion. In this tournament, he was also elected to the All- Star team and won the best striker. 2006, the first of the gentlemen was appointed to the squad of the Czech national team, with which he participated in Finland on Karjala Cup.
