Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District

Amphoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya ( Thai: อำเภอ พระนครศรีอยุธยา ) is the administrative district of the provincial capital ( Amphoe Mueang ) of Ayutthaya province. The Ayutthaya Province located in the central region of Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is located in the center of the province. The neighboring districts (from north clockwise) Amphoe Bang Pahan are, Nakhon Luang, Uthai, Bang Pa-In, Bang Sai and Bang Ban. All counties are located in the province of Ayutthaya.

History

The current district Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was first called Rop Krung ( รอบ กรุง - "The capital surrounding " ), it was established in 1897. In 1917 he was in Krung Kao - renamed ( กรุง เก่า " Old Capital "). In 1957 the name was changed to " Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya ", to commemorate the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. Since the districts of the capital cities of Thai provinces Amphoe Mueang hot normally followed by the name of the province, the naming of Amphoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is unique.

Education

In this district is the Rajabhat University Tk Si Ayutthaya and Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi.

Administrative divisions

Amphoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya is in 21 communities ( tambon) divided in turn into 120 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The city of Ayutthaya ( Thai: เทศบาล นคร พระนครศรีอยุธยา ) is administratively a city ( thesaban Nakhon ), it consists of the Tambon Pratu Chai, Kamang, Ho Rattanachai, Hua Ro and Tha Wasukri and parts of the tambon Hantra, Ban Ko, Khlong Suan Phlu, Khlong Sa Bua and Ko Rian.

Ayothaya ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง อ โยธ ยา ) is administratively a city ( thesaban Mueang ), it consists of the Tambon Phai Ling as well as parts of the Tambon Khlong Suan Phlu and Hantra.
