Prunelli-di-Casacconi

Prunelli- di - Casacconi is a commune with 161 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Haute- Corse on the island of Corsica in France.

Geography

Prunelli- di - Casacconi is the Castagniccia at an altitude of 220 meters above sea level, above the valley of the Golo in the northeast of the island of Corsica, 22 kilometers south of Bastia, the seat of the prefecture of the Haute -Corse, and six kilometers north of the Regional Nature Park of Corsica. The village is surrounded by the neighboring communities Olmo, Vignale and Monte. The community consists of five hamlets, its territory covers an area of 6.02 square kilometers.

History

Prunelli is Corsican for, blackthorn '. 1801 was the municipality under the name Prunelli by the administrative reform under Napoleon Bonaparte ( 1769-1821) the right to local self-government. Most residents ( 668 ) had the village in 1921. Between 1954 and 1962, the population declined dramatically from 522 to 220 At least residents (146 ), the municipality had 1990.

The Castelluccio castle was built in 1202 for the Earls of Corsica. According to the Corsican historian Giovanni della Grossa (* 1388 ) it had been built on behalf of the legendary Giudice de Cinarca (actually Sinucello Della Rocca, 1221-1306 or 1312). The church of Saint -Cyr -et-Saint - Julitte dedicated to saints Quiricus and Julietta. It was first mentioned in 1646 and was probably built in the early 17th century. It was restored in the 19th century. The church tower was built in 1899. The plan of the church has the shape of a Latin cross. In the church there are six paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. A painting from the 17th century shows John the Baptist at the age of about ten years on a stone in a landscape seated. Maybe it comes from the collection of Cardinal Joseph Fesch ( 1763-1839 ). The plant was classified as a monument historique in 2005 ( historic monument '). One of the side altars also dates from the 17th century. He is dedicated to St. Roch of Montpellier.

In the north of the township, near the hamlet of Chioselli, are the ruins of an old hydroelectric power station from the second quarter of the 20th century. A dilapidated bridge from the colonial era of the Republic of Genoa (before 1768) is south of the hydroelectric plant. An old railroad bridge from the last quarter of the 19th century leading to the northwest of the township near the hamlet Vergaghio over the Golo.
