Aghione

Aghione ( Corsican: Aghjone ) is a municipality with 232 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Haute- Corse on the French island of Corsica.

Geography

Aghione lies in the valley of the river Tagnone, at an altitude of 60 meters above sea level, east of Corsica, 59 kilometers northeast of Ajaccio, capital of Corsica region, and 9.3 kilometers west of Aleria. Other neighboring municipalities are Casevecchie and Lugo -di- Nazza. The municipality has an area of ​​33.88 square kilometers.

History

The community Aghione was formed in 1864 from the districts and municipalities Vivario Vezzani.

1975, 31 wineries have joined together in a cooperative. The vineyards of the cooperative are 850 acres in size, their soil is rich in clay minerals and limestone, but also contains silt, red sand and gravel.
