Putanges-Pont-Écrepin
Putanges -Pont- Écrepin is a commune with 1019 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Orne of the Basse-Normandie region.

Geography
The village is surrounded by the countryside Norman Switzerland. The nearest towns are Flers, Falaise and Argentan. Putanges -Pont- Écrepin is situated on both sides of the river Orne. In the center there is a bridge over the river. A little further upstream of the flow in the reservoir of Rabodanges is dammed, part of the part of the municipal territory. The community is home to the Association of Municipalities Val d' Orne. By Putanges -Pont- Écrepin runs a route of the Camino de Santiago.
Structure and formation
The municipality was created in 1965 from the previously independent municipalities Putanges and Pont- Écrepin. Putanges was the more important place, and since the French Revolution, capital of the canton which still exists today. The community was after the revolution the name first Putange. Pont- Écrepin first called Pontécrépin.
History
Putanges built in the 13th century on a hill overlooking the Orne. This is today still referred to as Putanges Vieux (Old Putanges ). From this time the old manor house, a chapel and a cemetery remain. Since 1580 the weekly market of Putanges exists. 1756 was a company that produced guns for the Navy. The construction of a sluice made the construction of a bridge over the Orne. From the first lock was a mill and from 1900 it was used for production of electricity. Pont- Écrepin was particularly influenced by the clothing industry. The name derives from cuir, the French word for leather, from. 1822 of Pont- Écrepin was the Church of Putanges, only two years later. Between 1902 and 1904 the Mairie was born. The Second World War both places were largely destroyed. The bridge was blown up by the Wehrmacht on August 18, 1944, the same day the British troops liberated Putanges and Pont- Écrepin. The entire reconstruction lasted about seven years.
