Rachau is a municipality with 596 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district court district Mur and Jews Castle in Styria ( Austria ).

Geographical Location
The community lies on the edge of the Styrian Rachau Aichfeld and is divided into three districts: Mitterbach, mirror and the village Rachau -site.

The municipality comprises the three villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):

- Rachau (304 )
The municipality comprises the cadastral Mirror, Mitterbach, Rachau I and II Rachau
Incorporations
As part of the Styrian community structure reform (at least until 2015) municipalities Rachau, St. Lorenzen St. Margaret will be merged.

History
The municipality Rachau was built in 1849 /50.

Policy
Mayor Karl Hirtler of the ÖVP, Bernadette Hartleb (ÖVP ) is Deputy Mayor.
Coat of arms
The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 August 1959. Blazon (Coat of Arms description). " In one of blue and silver left diagonally divided shield a golden heraldic lily in blue and a blue rotbezungter dog's head ringed with golden necklace in silver field "
Infrastructure
There is a kindergarten, a primary school, two volunteer fire brigades and a Almgasthaus - the Gröndahlhaus and Inns, Schmalzmüllerhof in the Mirror, the valley Berghof and the gastronomic experience Fox & Hen in the treetop trail in Mitterbach, furthermore the barn café and the Rachauerhof in Rachau. The main attraction of the village is the treetop trail in Mitterbach.
Tourism
In Rachau is the treetop trail which leads to 2.7 km in length, partly larch wooden walkways and stairs in treetop level, through a forest.
Events
From 1995 to 2004, the so-called hill climbing was held in Rachau on Devil's Mountain.
Every year on 26 December, the traditional Styrian Ball Rural Youth takes place.
