Village center

Roggliswil is a municipality in the constituency Willisau the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northwest of the canton of Lucerne and is horseshoe- shaped ( in the west, north and east ) enclosed by the municipality Pfaffnau. The whole place is located in a hilly area. Roggliswil village, the district Niederwil ( 539 m) to the northeast and the hamlet Netzelen ( 578-589 m) southwest are grown together. West of Roggliswil village and Netzelen the Baanwald (reached a height of 635 m above sea level ) - south of Egler moss forest and east of the Horn Forest. The Steinbach, which rises near Erpolingen (municipality Grossdietwil ) flows in a northwesterly direction and forms part of the southern boundary of the municipality. The Pfaff agents, which springs to the south-east of the village flows east to Roggliswil village and Niederwil passing northward direction Pfaffnau. Of the total area of 622 ha community two-thirds ( 66.1 %) is used for agriculture; 27.5 % is covered by forest and woodland and 6.1% settlement area.

Roggliswil borders Altbüron, Grossdietwil and Pfaffnau.

Population

From 1798 to 1850, the population grew significantly at ( 1798 to 1850: 68.1 %). Then set to 1910 a massive migration a ( 1850 to 1910: -41.3 %) - one of the strongest in the whole canton. The year 1910 recorded the lowest population state of modern time. After a decade of stagnation, the population then grew to 1950 After a second wave of emigration in the 1950s, the population stabilized to 1990 In the 1990s there was a rapid growth in population (1990-2000: .. 17.2 % ). Since then stagnated, the number of residents.

Languages

The population used as everyday language, a high- Alemannic dialect. At the last census in 2000 gave 96.30 % German, 2.01% and 0.62 % Albanian French.

Religions - faiths

Previously, all the inhabitants were members of the Roman Catholic Church. By leaving the church and immigration from other regions in Switzerland and abroad, this has changed. Today ( as of 2000) provides for the religious composition of the residents as follows. There are 83.02 % and 8.49% Roman Catholic Evangelical Protestant Christians. In addition, one finds 2.62% and 2.16 % non-religious Muslims.

Origin - Nationality

Of the 634 residents in late 2006 were 623 Swiss and 11 ( = 1.7 %) foreigners. At the last census was 95.83 % ( 96.45 % including dual citizens ) Swiss nationals. The few immigrants come from Serbia and Montenegro (mostly Albanians ), Germany, Portugal, Italy.

Traffic

Roggliswil is by bus Reiden - Pfaffnau - Roggliswil -St. Urban society SDR connected to the network of public transport. In Reiden there is a railway station on the line Luzern- Olten. The community is on the road Reiden - Altbüron. The nearest motorway junction is the Reiden on the A2 at 7 km.

History

In 1256 Rocliswil immersed in a deed of gift to the monastery of St. Urban at the first time. Originally belonging to the Counts of Frohnburg, possessed from the 13th century, the Habsburgs, the community and beat them to the county Willisau. In whose name the lords of Roggliswil exercised to 1303 from the regency. They sold their possessions to the Lords of Büttikon. In 1407 the city of Lucerne bought the county Willisau. In contrast to the neighboring communities of the municipality of the small bailiwick Wikon and not the bailiwick Willisau was assigned. She stayed until 1798 part of this bailiwick.
