Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova

The Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria - Bova (Latin: Archidioecesis Rheginensis - Bovensis, Italian: Arcidiocesi di Reggio Calabria - Bova ) is a located in Italy Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Reggio Calabria.

History

The Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria - Bova was built in the 1st century as the Diocese of Reggio Calabria. In the 11th century the bishopric of Reggio Calabria was raised to an archbishopric. The dioceses Bisignano, Cassano all'Jonio, Cosenza, Crotone, Locri, Nicastro, Nicotera, Rossano, Squillace, Tauriana, Tropea and Vibona were the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria assumed as suffragan. Later also the bishoprics Martirano, Malvito and Oppido were placed under the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria as suffragan sees.
