Saal an der Saale ( officially: Hall adSaale ) is a market in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön - grave field and office of the Management Community Hall adSaale, which includes the communities Großeibstadt and Wülfershausen adSaale belong.

The market is in the grave field at the confluence of the spleen and the Franconian Saale.

History

The Bishopric of Würzburg practiced from 1368 to 1803 the country's domination in hall adSaale from. From 1500 was room in the Frankish Empire circle. The place belonged to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany before it came to Bavaria by the Treaties of Paris in 1814. In the course of administrative reform was created with the community of 1818, the current community.

The estate and castle Walter Hausen, formerly owned by the family of calf, went through at the beginning of the 19th century the property of the Göttingen scholars and economic historian Georg Friedrich Sartorius, who was raised as Baron von Walter squatting in the hereditary Bavarian nobility due to the acquisition. The estate with the castle remained essentially until the 20th century owned by the Sartorius family of Walter Hausen. In 1944 the castle was taken over by the German Post as a convalescent home for postal workers.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "Divided of red and gold; above a silver lily stalk with two blooms, covered by a fallen golden crutch cross, which ends in wall anchors; below a black table cross. "

The lily stalk at the top of the coat of arms symbolizes the pilgrimage church of the Visitation on the Findelberg with their pilgrimage as well as the parish church of the Assumption of Mary. The crutch cross is the symbol of the coat of arms extinct around 1300 counts of Wildenberg, who were for the municipality in the High Middle Ages is of great importance.
