Salmtal
Salmtal is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land, and was known nationwide for its football club FSV Salmrohr, who played in the season 1986/1987 in the 2nd Bundesliga. Salmtal is a nationally recognized tourist and reported as a basic center in accordance with state planning.

Geography
The municipality is located in Wittlich sink in the valley of the Salm on the A1, A60 and the railway line between Koblenz - Trier.
The municipality is divided into the districts Salmtal Dörbach and Salmrohr. The hamlet Dörbach includes the residential area inside the hoof; to the hamlet Salmrohr the residential places Alter Bahnhof Salmrohr, Birkenhof, Secession, and Kapellenhof Tannenhof.
History
In 1007, the first written mention of the name Salmrohr was as Rore at Seleheim ( see also Sehlem ). In 1250, the village name was first mentioned in writing as Dörbach Derinbach. From 1794, the towns were under French rule in 1815, they were assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 they are part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. On June 7, 1969 and was formed from the communities and Salmrohr Dörbach the community Salmtal.

The local council in Salmtal consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms
The blazon of the arms is: "Under a golden head of the shield, is a growing red, silver reinforced lion, split plate, front in silver a blue anchor, rear Eisenhutfeh in Silver".
The district Salmrohr and part of the district Dörbach belonged formerly to the rule of the Knights of Esch. The coat of arms of the knight Konrad von Esch, 1330 ( sub- golden head of the shield with lions, gray factory - Eisenhutfeh ) front is replaced by a blue anchor, taken from the Abtswappen Jacobus Otto von Trier, the on open gable of Dörbacher mill, formerly manor mill is depicted former Augustinian Canons monastery Klausen. The coat of arms was approved on January 3, 1980 by the District Government of Trier.
