Salmtal

Salmtal is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Wittlich -Land, and was known nationwide for its football club FSV Salmrohr, who played in the season 1986/1987 in the 2nd Bundesliga. Salmtal is a nationally recognized tourist and reported as a basic center in accordance with state planning.

History

In 1007, the first written mention of the name Salmrohr was as Rore at Seleheim ( see also Sehlem ). In 1250, the village name was first mentioned in writing as Dörbach Derinbach. From 1794, the towns were under French rule in 1815, they were assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. Since 1946 they are part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.
