San Francisco Blues Festival

The San Francisco Blues Festival, which was organized in 1973 for the first time, is next to the Chicago Blues Festival, the existing longest of the United States. It was founded by Tom Mazzolini: to introduce to the audience the history and development of the blues. Many of the acts in the first years of the festival were the pioneers of the West Coast blues.

The event will be held in Great Meadow, Fort Mason, Marina District, one of the most spectacular venues in San Francisco overlooking the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.

2009 took place for the first time after 37 years, the festival for economic reasons not occur.

Tom Mazzolini

Born in Chicago, he came to California in 1963 and studied at the San Francisco State University, where he earned a degree in American history. For 12 years, he also worked for the magazine Living Blues. In addition to the founding of the San Francisco Blues Festival, he is the host of the longest running radio show Blue in the Bay Area. For his work as a producer in 1983, he received the WC Handy Award, among other awards for his contributions to the blues.
