Geographical Location

St. Peter's is located about 5 km west of the district capital of Jews Castle in the Mur Valley in the northern foothills of the Alps Seetaler, at the foot of Zirbitzmassivs or on the right ( southern ) bank of the Mur, highest point of the municipality is the Erslstand with 2,155 m.

History

The municipality Sankt Peter ob Jews castle was built in 1849 /50 and originally included only the territory of the cadastral St. Peter's. Once in 1951 after the dissolution of the community Pichl of (the western part - Bulk - joined the former municipality Wöll ) eastern part came to St. Peter, was created by the Association of Municipalities Feistritzwerke ditch Möschitzgraben, Roth tower and Saint Peter whether Jews castle on January 1, 1970 the present town of Sankt Peter ob Jews castle.

Culture and sights

The parish church of St. Peter whether Jews castle, the Jews from Burger sculptor Johann Nischlwitzer built in 1774 Fischerkanzel. As part of the church interior renovation in the early 1990's ceiling frescoes of the twelve apostles were exposed.

Museum Furth- forge: the former Hoof and forge workshop in the district Furth has been renovated on the initiative of the Association and is open to the public as a museum.
