Geographical location

Schemmerhofen located about nine kilometers north of the county seat Biberach an der Riss. The community part Langenschemmern flows through a portion of the Mühlbach, which flows just below and to the southeast of the village in the coming from the south Danube tributary tear, which in turn further north the municipality part Schemmerberg flows.

History

In the Nazi era was the children's home Ingerkingen a so-called " children of asylum ", from the 1940 as part of the "euthanasia" killing T4 72 children were killed, only eleven have survived.
