Shrek the Third

Shrek the Third is a computer animated film by directors Chris Miller and Raman Hui from the year 2007. He ran on 21 June 2007 in the German cinemas. The film is the third installment of the Shrek film series after Shrek - The daring hero and its sequel Shrek 2 - The daring hero returns and was continued by Shrek Forever After, the last part of 2010.

Action

As Shrek's father Harold, the ruler of the kingdom " Far Far Away " falls ill, Shrek will appoint his successor as king. Shortly after, Harold dies. Since Shrek not who desires to become king, he embarks with his friends Donkey and Puss in Boots in search of Fiona's cousin Arthur, the next family member in line of succession. While Shrek sails away to find Arthur, Fiona calls him afterwards that she was pregnant, causing at Shrek in the movie develops nightmares. He is afraid of the responsibility that he as a father would.

Meanwhile, attempts Prince Charming, now a struggling actor, the throne of " Far Far Away " to take over in a coup. He is assisted by Captain Hook, the evil stepmother of Snow White, a Cyclops, Rumpelstiltskin, Mabel, the ugly step-sister, and an army of witches, elves and Ents. The pregnant Fiona, her mother Lilian and Doris, the other ugly stepsister, recruit four of Fiona's best friends: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Cinderella. Along with them, Pinocchio, the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf and the gingerbread man they oppose Charming.

Charmings group storms the UK, but Fiona and her friends can escape. On the run from Charming but they are betrayed by Rapunzel - Charming had offered her to become his queen - and they get behind bars. Meanwhile sends Charming los a group to arrest Shrek and his friends. Shrek, Donkey, Puss in Boots and Arthur can drive the villains though. To get back home, they are looking at the old and confused school teacher Merlin magic, the four with a spell for " Far Far Away " promoted, but at the same time exchange donkey and Puss in Boots by an error Merlins their bodies. Arthur climbs onto the stage and convinced Charmings army from the fact that they also have smooth sides and are good. Together with the dragon, they manage to overpower Charming. Arthur then takes to the Crown.

Shrek and Fiona return to their swamp, where they raise their three children as happy parents.

Conception

Numerous allusions As in the previous films on other classics. For example, Prince Charming is killed in the final scene of the cascading tower. The production design is inspired by the movie Hook, where Captain Hook is killed in exactly the same way at the end of the stuffed crocodile and as Charming calls for his mother.

Awards

  • Director Chris Miller was nominated for Best Animated Feature for the British Academy Film Awards in the category.

Synchronization

Almost all the speakers of the first two parts could also be obtained for part three again. Only Randolf Kronberg, the former German voice of Donkey, died on 2 March 2007 before the synchronization of the film and was replaced by Dennis Schmidt- Foss. The German dubbing of the film took over once again Berliner Synchron AG in Berlin.
