Sønderborg Municipality

The Sønderborg Kommune (German: municipality Sønderborg) is a Danish municipality in the region Syddanmark.

The result is the occasion of the accelerated since 2002, structural reform in Denmark. Since 1 January 2007 there is a new large municipality from the "old " Sønderborg municipality and the former municipalities Gråsten (German: Gravenstein ), Broager (German: Broacker ) Sundeved (German: Sundewitt ), Sydals (Eng.: Südalsen ), August Borg (German: August castle ) and Nordborg (German: Norburg ). So that you cover the entire island of Als (German: Alsen ) and most of the peninsula Sundeved (German: Sundewitt ) and is therefore greater than the former Sønderborg Office ( 1920-32 ) (the area of the later Gråsten municipality belonged to Aabenraa Office) and the circle Sonderborg ( 1869-1920 ). On January 1, 2013 lived in the community 75 732 inhabitants. Seat of administration is Sønderborg.
