Spilamberto

Spilamberto is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 12,398 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Province of Modena in the Emilia- Romagna. The community is located about 13 kilometers southeast of Modena and about 26 kilometers west of Bologna on Panaro.

History

In the first documents about the place from the 11th and 12th century ( 1026 and 1162 ), the settlement is mentioned as spina Lamberti. 1210 leaves the reign of Modena in Spina Lamberti build the fortifications. The place is then divided on the basis of a dispute between the Bishop of Modena and the Abbey of Nonantola 1214. Whether or Spilamberto San Cesario sul Panaro the place of death of Pope Hadrian III. in September was 885, is not fully understood.

Economy and Transport

Production is next to the famous Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena also Nocino, a liqueur. Spilamberto is about three kilometers south of the Autostrada A1 from Milan coming over Bologna to Florence and to Rome.
