Stanz bei Landeck

Punching is a municipality with 575 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Landeck in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Landeck.

Geography

Punching is about 200 meters above Landeck at the foot of the Lech Valley Alps on a low mountain range. Punching is eponymous for the punch valley that leads from Landeck to the Arlberg area.

History

First settlers settled in the protected position of punching down about 4000 years ago. Punching, then called stanuc was first documented in 1150. The village was the original parish of the entire basin, and the Enzian castle opposite the castle Landeck monitored the area and was at times a legal court. The ornamented with Baroque paintings Gasthaus " Zum Löwen " is the homeland house of the architect Jacob Prandtauer, whose main work is the construction of Melk Abbey in Lower Austria. However, the ruins Enzian on the hillside north of the village dates from the 12th century, left is only the keep. The castle is a popular destination for tourists and locals. At the eastern end of punching a narrow forest path leads to ruin.

Fruit Brandy - Brandy - Brandy

Well known are the punch plums, whose cultivation appear here, through the long hours of sunshine favorable conditions. Stamping and also the neighboring towns are known as the site of distilleries. The local fruit is thereby processed in over 60 distilleries to fine spirits ( schnapps ). Some of the many distilleries in the town have been awarded for their products. Since 2005, the village bears the title " Genussregion Punch Plum ".
