Stefan Ustorf
Stefan Ustorf ( born January 3, 1974 in Kaufbeuren ) is a former German professional ice hockey player and son of former ice hockey player and coach Peter Ustorf.
Career
The 1.81 -meter center began his professional career with his hometown club ESV Kaufbeuren and played for this 1991-1994 three seasons in the Hockey League. Then Ustorf moved to North America, where he tried his hand in the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals, who had chosen him as the 53rd NHL Entry Draft in 1992 to enforce. After a full season at the Farm Team Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League the links Sagittarius fluctuated over the next two seasons between the Pirates and the Washington Capitals. During this time he played 54 NHL games for the capital city.
1997 Berlin Capitals of the attackers joined in the DEL, the coach and manager Ustorfs father Peter was at that time. After the season Ustorf returned to North America where he played in various clubs in the International Hockey League.
In 2001, the striker back to the DEL, and then played two seasons for the Adler Mannheim. In October 2003, Team Captain Ustorf and his assistant Yves Racine were dismissed by the club's management of the Eagles, who wanted to be able to react to the unsuccessful season start the eagle. Internationally
Stefan Ustorf was captain of the German national ice hockey team and played 121 games for this. After the 2006 World Cup, he announced his resignation, but returned to the World Cup 2008 back in the national team. Took place on 2 September 2008 with 128 international matches, the final withdrawal of the aggressor from the national team.
End of career
Early December 2011 suffered Ustorf after a check in the match against Hannover craniocerebral trauma that had feared end of his career. Also, fourteen months later, he was still suffering the consequences and could do no sport.
"I'm still very bad especially in the head. This I feel how gradually falls apart my body, [ ... ] I was not aware of how bad my condition can be, because I do not work out, I can not physically keep fit. "
On March 7, 2013 Ustorf was ultimately due to the violation of his official career end known.
