Stinstedt

Stinstedt ( Low German Stinst ) is a municipality in the district of Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony. To the municipality next to the main town Stinstedt also includes the towns of St. Joost, Neubachenbruch and Moorausmoor. The municipality belongs to the Samtgemeinde flare Lamstedt.

Geography

The renatured Stinstedter lake is located southwest of the city.

History

In St. Joost was a holy Jodokus consecrated chapel, which is first mentioned in 1367 and attracted many pilgrims to the Reformation of the area. It was canceled in 1541.

Incorporations

On 1 July 1972, the municipalities Moorausmoor and Neubachenbruch were incorporated.

Coat of arms

Blazon: " Argent, a silver -bearded man in a blue poncho -like pilgrim's cloak, blue pilgrim hat and blue shoes, in his right hand a golden pilgrim's staff with ball finial, in the left a golden scallop and left his feet a great golden crown of leaves. "

The man in the coat of arms is the holy hermits and pilgrims Jodokus, the namesake of the former chapel of St. Joost, with the attributes bar, Scallop and crown ( regard to its aristocratic origins ).
