Streithausen is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hachenburg. Streithausen is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography
Geographical location
Streithausen is seen a large scale, between Koblenz and Siegen, in the south-north axis and between Cologne and Frankfurt, in the west-east axis, in the northern part of the Westerwald, which also forms the northern part of Rhineland- Palatinate. The community is expected to the Kroppacher Switzerland region, which characterizes the Small and Big Nister, with its narrow valleys and some steep mountain slopes. The village is located south of the Little Nister in a valley, which on both slopes ( slope with the Ley and Sonnenberg and north slope with the Leychen and Hofberg ) is built on.
Neighboring communities
The district covers 392 hectares and is located at an altitude 230-380 m above sea level. NN. It borders to the north- east by the districts Atzelgift and Nister, in the south -east to the south- west with the Great Nister the districts Hachenburg, Müschenbach and Astert, on the west by the district Limbach and in the north -west with the little Nister to the districts Limbach and Atzelgift. The total length of Gemarkungsgrenze amounts to around 15 km.
Community structure
In addition to the farmsteads Kempf mill, north of the Little Nister the forest, the morning sun, south-east on the road between Luckenbach and Hachenburg, the Kellerhof, located south of the district border Nister, even monastery Marienstatt founded in 1222 is one of Streithausen.
Climate
Streithausen falls in the north-west German air space and is captured by the air districts of the Bergisch Land, Sauerland, the Eifel and the Middle Rhine Valley. The overall climate is characterized by maritime influences. The average annual rainfall is 1,150 mm. The mean annual temperature is 7.8 ° C.
History
The first written mention is dated November 2, 1279, as Cunegonde of Streithausen ( Strithusin ) and their children, who came from the family of the Lords of Nister, goods sold in the nearby Hailzhausen to the abbey Marienstatt. The Lords of Nister also included a former motte ( Motte Streithausen ), which was right on the Little Nister in the northern outskirts. The 1000 year old castle placed the center of the old manorial Nister dar. still preserves the approximately 12 m in diameter measured hill on which stood the tower and the moat. At the castle belonged to the former armed houses yard, the John of Nister 1287 sold it to the abbey Marienstatt. After the dissolution of the abbey, he went to Nassau possession over, fell and was completely destroyed by fire. 1876/77 the municipality bought Streithausen the whole land from the Prussian State.
2004 celebrated the community Streithausen their 725- year anniversary with a great ceremony and a prepared specially for the celebration theater piece. Streithausen was voted the most beautiful village in the Westerwald region in 2004.

The local council in Streithausen consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Structures
Worth seeing are several half-timbered houses in the village, including the Municipal House Scholtzenhaus, and which belongs to the municipality of Badia Marienstatt with gymnasium, brewing house and bookstore. Additional points of interest
- Former monastery mill
- Historical Nisterbrücke west of the Abbey: The vierbogige, made of rubble stone bridge is now only as a pedestrian bridge in use. In much older foundations it was built in 1721 in its present form. It is a listed building.

Regular events
Every year in July there is the famous within Streitser fair. On this are traditional practices such as the sock burning conclusion as still practiced today.
Economy and infrastructure
The community features a library, children's playgrounds, recreational and sports facilities and an extensive network of hiking trails with access to the Kroppacher Switzerland.
Education
The church is an elementary school site for four local churches. Within these four communities ( Limbach, Streithausen, Atzelgift and Luckenbach ) is an intertwining of the urban, cultural and physical level. Here, the community Streithausen holds also a common sports grounds and areas for possible future joint projects (eg gymnasium at the elementary school ) in the area Wet Heath. Situated on the county road 20 hard court in the same area, is used in addition to the community Streithausen also from the neighboring community Atzelgift.
The classical language private school Marienstatt, which is supported by the Cistercian abbey Marienstatt, located in the municipality of Streithausen. The school was founded in 1910 and has a Christian profile in which the subjects of religion, Latin and Greek have a high priority.
