Geographical location

The municipality is located southeast of Hachenburg in the Westerwald on the left bank of the Great Nister and Enspeler Bach.

History

In a document from 1320, the village was first mentioned as Albrechtsrode. Here was also a castle to protect the routes on the " Nöchel ". It had previously been a chapel with a small settlement (at least 1131 ).

To Alpenrod belong the localities Dehlingen (first settlers named Dillinger, 1618) and Hirtscheid ( 1100 Scheid brain ). There was a Talmuhle from 1551.
