Kroppach

Kroppach is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. The agriculturally structured residential community belongs to the municipality Hachenburg and is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

The municipality is located 319 m high between Hachenburg and old churches and is referred to as the gateway to nature and landscape protection area Kroppacher Switzerland. History

For the first time Kroppach mentioned in documents in 1199. Kroppach has long been the seat of a decade of court and had his own court seal. 1661 a so-called parish winter school was established, was eventually taught at the 1731 throughout the year.

The Kroppacher Switzerland

Kroppach is surrounded by the 1969 designated protected landscape Nistertal, which is commonly referred to as Kroppacher Switzerland. The Kroppacher Switzerland is crossed by numerous marked hiking trails along the barrel of the Great Nister. The most famous are the Westerwaldsteig, St. Mary's trail, an ancient pilgrimage route, which connects the Cistercian monastery Marienstatt with the Franciscan monastery Marienthal and the Nature Trail End of the World in stone Wingert.

The Church
