Kundert

Kundert is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hachenburg.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald between Limburg and victories in nature and landscape protection area Kroppacher Switzerland. North of the village is the county boundary to the district of Old Churches ( Westerwald), to the east Malberg, in the south Limbach, in the southwest Heimborn and to the northwest Mörsbach.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1346 by the name of Kunderoed and until the Middle Ages the village name is called with Kundert. At the northeastern outskirts of the village was in the Middle Ages the place Hetzenhausen ( deserted village ); handed down is the location of the deserted village in the hall named " The Hetten " ( huts) and " Blanchette " north of the village, a historic landmark is called SH ( for Sayn- ​​Hachenburg ) and on the other side SA ( for Sayn- ​​old churches ). It was built after 1671 as a boundary marker between these dominions. A km northeast lies the so-called " Sweden ditch " on the road to stones stream. The origin of the Landwehr is unknown and to be sought in medieval times.

The village belonged to the parish Kundert Kroppach and by the end of the 18th century the country wonderfully to the county of Sayn- ​​Hachenburg. 1799 was the county on the Erbweg to the princes of Nassau- Weilburg. In connection with the formation of the Confederation of the Rhine was the region and thus Kundert 1806 at the newly built Duchy of Nassau. Under the management of Nassau Kundert was assigned to the Office Hachenburg. After the annexation of the Duchy of Nassau, the place came in 1866 to the Kingdom of Prussia and was from 1868 to the province of Hesse -Nassau and Oberwesterwald circle. Since 1946 Kundert is part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

The fully coated in neighboring communities mining areas were also pursued in Kundert. However, with limited success. The former pit stones proved, despite several attempts, as unsustainable economically and was not further enhanced by this circumstance. Remains of the pit you can still find in the " Erscherbach ".
